Kim and Jason’s Story

Myself (Kim) & my fiancé Jason had our first consultation in September 2014. We were understandably apprehensive yet excited.

From day one we were made to feel very relaxed and positive. All the staff were warm, friendly & very supportive all the way through. The whole process was explained thoroughly and seemed less daunting then we first thought. The forms were very clear and simple, especially regarding giving myself injections.

We had to travel from Staffordshire sometimes on a weekly basis but it was all worth it and only really a couple of hours away . The day came to have my eggs extracted for fertilisation, which was the first time I’d had an operation so I was nervous, but everyone was so calm and reassuring. I was happy to learn that I had 11 eggs. The next day I was devastated to learn that only one of my eggs had fertilised and I was to come back in to have it implanted the next day as there was too much risk to wait for the blastocyst stage. The specialist on the phone could sense my upset and was very positive and reassured me that it only takes one. I was convinced that we had no chance, but two weeks later a test revealed I was pregnant and at seven weeks we saw his heartbeat for the first time at our scan at Nurture.

Dylan was born August 2015 and turned two a couple of weeks ago, and it’s all thanks to the amazing people at Nurture.
